The ever increasing requirement for licensure or regulation of the home inspection profession in many states and the need to acquire continuing education credits for license or registration renewal has become ever demanding and time consuming. The decision was made to provide an inexpensive way to obtain top quality continuing education credits for license and registration renewal from the comfort of your home or office at your convenience. Our Executive Director is Bernie Caliendo. Bernie has been in the construction and remodeling fields since 1982 performing all aspects of construction, installation and repair on residential and commercial buildings. He established B. Sure Home Inspection Company in February 1993 and has performed thousands of residential and commercial inspections since. Buildings inspected date back to 1750 to brand new construction.
Bernie established a consulting division in 1995 and has worked on many complex cases as an expert witness for: home inspectors, private clients, law firms, insurance companies and the CT Attorney Generals Office.
Bernie was appointed by the Governor of Connecticut in September 1999 to the newly formed CT Home Inspection Licensing Board. He was instrumental in drafting many of the rules and regulations in effect today. In August 2003 he was reappointed and named the Chairman of the Board and served for 5 years in that capacity. Bernie was the one to ask when questions were put forth about the licensing Statute, Rules & Regulations and the Intern program.
Bernie initiated the continuing education reciprocity agreement between the CT Home Inspection Licensing Board and the Massachusetts Board of Licensure for Home Inspection.
Bernie sits on the CT Deptment of Public Health (DPH) and American Lung Association )ALA)- Radon Coalition group and services as the education committee chairperson.
Bernie has participated as a subject matter expert in writing and evaluating exam questions & content for; The Examination Board of Professional Home Inspectors (EBPHI)- on the National Home Inspector Exam, assisting with development & content for Experior - on the CT Home Inspector Exam, and for PSI in development, content, wrting and evaluation on the current CT Home Inspector Licensing Exam.
Bernie holds home inspection licenses in Connecticut and Massachusetts.
In 1997 Bernie was appointed to the Board of Directors of the CT Assoc. of Home Inspectors. He served as their President for 5 of the last 7 years (2001-2008) Bernie directed their continuing education program, Law seminars, field trips in 5 states and acted as state liaison with the DCP, DPS, DEP and the DPH along with participating at hearing at the State Legislature.
Bernie has held certifications & memberships in multiple national home inspection associations, a member of the Indoor Air Quality Association (IAQA),a Council-Certified Mold Inspector of the American Indoor Air Quality Council (AmIAQC), he is a Certified Radon Measurement Provider by the National Environmental Health Association (NEHA_NRPP)in Water & Air, a member of the American Association of Radon Technologists & Scientists (AARST),Phase 1 Environmental inspector and a Certified Environmental Consultant.
